Geovany Soto

For years, the catching position on the Cubs has been a black hole. Players like Scott Servais, Koyie Hill, Damon Barryhill, and Hector Villanueva litter this position. All this changed in 2008. Geovany Soto has emerged as the best Cub catcher since the days of Randy Hundley. he has a combination of defense and offense that has not been seen behind the plate at Wrigley in a long time. Fans in the rest of the county have noticed this too as he was voted in as a starter for the 2008 All-Star game - the 1st ever rookie to start at catcher for the NL. Here is a picture I took of Geo rounding 2nd going to 3rd in June of 2008.
