Reed Johnson

With only unproven rookie, Felix Pie pencilled in for centerfield, Jim Hendry went out looking for a backup outfielder that could play all 3 outfield positions. When the Toronto Blue Jays got caught up in a numbers game and had to release Reed Johnson, Hendry jumped all over him and signed him. Johnson has been a real find for this team. He has played all 3 outfield positions, making all the routine catches and also making some real spectacular ones, like the one he made laid out and crashing into the wall. His bat has also been a plus for this team. All in all, his play both with the glove and with the bat has helped the Cubs in 2008. Here is a picture I took of Reed in July of 2008.
